An active, caring community for seniors

From the Desk of the Executive Director

Families and Friends of Kokoro:
Kokoro's New Executive Director Named:   Naoko Jones, currently the Director of Resident Care at Kokoro since October 2015 was selected by a committee comprised of senior staff from Northern California Presbyterian Homes and Services (NCPHS), the management contractor who operates Kokoro, as well as by representatives from the Kokoro Board of Directors.    Naoko will take on her new responsibilities beginning on December 1st, 2018.   A reception will be planned an announced in the near future to welcome Naoko as the third Executive Director to serve Kokoro since opening its doors in 2003.  Congratulations to Naoko!
Family Council:   Please contact Erika Shimahara by email erikashimahara@yahoo.com if you are interested in participating in  the Kokoro Family Council.   The council generally meets on a quarterly basis.
Annual Employee Appreciation:    We are still accepting donations for our employee appreciation fund.  Kokoro staff members are not allowed to accept individual tips or gifts for their services but instead we have established a fund that is used to receive donations and provides gifts and gift cards to the staff from the residents, families and friends during the holiday season and throughout the year.    Your donation will be put to use to extend holiday greetings and appreciation to the staff for their services to our residents.  Staff is on hand 24 hrs/day 7 days a week to respond to the needs of the residents.  Your donations are sincerely appreciated.
Memo from Kirk:    I take this opportunity to thank all of the residents, family members, friends of Kokoro, staff and especially the members of the Kokoro Board of Directors -- past and present who allowed me to serve as the Executive Director for the past thirteen years.  You have all contributed to the many successes we have had at Kokoro in providing a place where our residents can live in comfort and dignity to live out the rest of their lives.   I ask that you continue to support Kokoro and its residents in the years to come as it carries out its mission under the leadership of Naoko Jones.   Thanks again to all of you for your support.
 One Team!
