Favorite Part of working at Kokoro
Tours are my very favorite, showing the rooms, giving a bit of history of the building. Helping the families navigate the challenges of moving a loved one. How it all Started I believe year was 1972, a friend called and ask if I was interested in working with seniors, being a Nurses Aid said the hours were 7:00-3:30, and you never had to work more than 4 days in a row, work 4 days, off 1 day, work 4 days off 2, work 4 days off 3 day. The hours were great and would not interfere with my horse world involvement. This is back in the day when (SNF) they did not have the men and women on the same hallways.
I did Nurses Aid for 2 years, then it was too physically hard, transferred into the kitchen, did that for a few years, then transferred into different departments, such as, Receptionist, Scheduling, Central Supply, Activities, Medical Records for almost 6 years, and finally, around the years 1999 they started having Admissions & Marketing. I knew this was the job for me as I always had strong relationships with families and residents…it was not unusual for a nurse to come and get me and say “one of your babies is acting up, we need your help”. It was a 168 bed SNF that I had the pleasure of working in for 10 years. Then Kokoro called and I have been here ever since 8.8.2019!
In my free time I enjoy eating out, antiquing, or Flea Markets…..if it’s not sunny or warm, antique stores, just staying home watching movies, going to the beach or some parks, or social outings with my church Tribe.
