Kokoro Assisted Living – A Non-Profit Senior Living Community
Kokoro Assisted Living is located in San Francisco’s Japantown and is dedicated to helping the lives of seniors (age 60+) with assisted living and independent living. Kokoro welcomes residents from all backgrounds and income levels, in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.
Kokoro is a nonprofit public corporation, founded in 1998, that is tax exempt under Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(3). All profits after expenses are returned to Kokoro Assisted Living to help and to improve the facility and the lives of our residents.
Kokoro Assisted Living is guided by a Board of Directors that adopt a sound, ethical and legal governance. The board interacts and listens to resident requests and interacts with the outside community connecting them to Kokoro Assisted Living. The board is also responsible for forming advantageous relationships with local government to benefit Kokoro Assisted Living.
Thanks to dedicated and thoughtful donors and to the city of San Francisco’s Department of Disability and Aging Services, Kokoro Assisted Living provides assisted and independent living to residents truly in need.
Because Kokoro operates as a non-profit public organization, it can offer discounted rates on 37 of the 54 apartment units set aside for low to moderate income seniors (age 60+). These discounted rates are available on a limited basis depending upon availability and financial qualifications.
